Today is one of our favorite fictional character’s birthdays! It is also JK Rowling’s birthday, who is the author of the Harry Potter series. We had a super fun birthday party with all sorts of magical activities. The first activity was to put on the sorting hat and take our quiz.
Thanks to all of our guests who came out for our Magical Midsummer Saturday yesterday! We hope that you had as much fun as we did. It was a truly magical day filled with magic shows, Animal Magic, games, and wonderful people.
The magician had three magical birds named Hotdog, Hamburger, and French Fry. He told us that he can easily tell them apart because they all have different names! In this photo he is holding Hotdog.
A big thank you to all of our volunteers and the General Motors Foundation! We could not have done it without them. Special thanks to the brothers of FIJI from Kettering University.
It was such a great day! 🙂
Join us tomorrow for our biggest event of the summer! There will be food, games, prizes, magic, animals, and of course, the museum! We are open 10am until 7pm, and admission is $6 per person, which includes all of the special activities. We hope to see you here!
Thursday night is for family fun at the museum! Weare open until 7 this evening, with admission being only $3 after 4pm. Tonight we have a dinosaur theme in Sproutside.
Try your hand at being a paleontologist. Some of our friends dug up these fossils. They put them in the wheel barrow to take to their local museum 🙂
And you can come bounce in our Dino bounce house! Get all of those wiggles out before bedtime.
We hope to see you here!
Our gardens are really growing! Here are some fun facts about a couple of plants in Sproutside.
Did you know that these pretty flowers are edible? They are called day lilies. We have 2 different colors in our gardens, and they taste a little different from each other. They taste like lettuce, with a little sweetness 🙂
Come and see the rest of the pretty, and tasty plants we have. Maybe you can even taste test some of our tomatoes, cucumbers, or zucchini!
Introducing our newest addition to Sproutside – The Mud Pie Cafe.
Put on an apron, and get to work! There are mud pies that need baking!
Everything you need to make a scrumptious mud meal. Pots and pans, pie plates, spoons, and of course, a big bucket of mud!
Come to the museum ready to get messy! If you don’t want to get too dirty, we have smocks available too 🙂
We are exploring Michigan mammals by looking at their paws and poo! We had tons of fun identifying animals at the museum today, now it’s your turn!
Correctly guess whose poo this is before July 26 and you will be entered into a drawing for a free museum admission!
Thank you to the Kearsley Park Players for such a wonderful show!
Here is Prince Charming and Cinderella’s evil step sisters.
Don’t Cinderella and Prince Charming look lovely during their first dance?
We hope that everyone enjoyed the show this weekend!
July 28th is the Magical Mid-Summer Saturday at the Flint Children’s Museum. Live magic performances, water games, trolley rides, face painting and more! Contact us for additional details…http://ow.ly/i/M0DP http://ow.ly/i/M0E3
Last night the museum provided kids with craft projects at the Buckham Alley Festival in downtown Flint as a part of Craft City. While parents shopped at all of the great vendor booths, kids got to make their own handmade items.
Our new friends had a great time making bongos, binoculars, butterflies, and flower vases.
Thank you so much to Flint Handmade for having us at this super fun festival!
